Libra is far more intelligent than Gemini. Gemini likes to collect random information without having assessed the value or plausibility of it. While he enjoys the idea of being intelligent (and will often try to use clever language to obscure simple information and appear intelligent to those less savvy) and can appreciate said quality in others, they themselves are unable to do much besides collect the nuts. Cracking them open to get to the heart of the matter is best left to Libra. Libra is able to impartially approach information in a disciplined fashion, without hastily accepting or running with it. This is why Libras are often viewed as indecisive. They view the world as something rife with possibility, and because of their broad world and self-awareness, they withhold making hasty decisions. Other signs will impulsively run with information falling into their laps without a second’s hesitation. While Libras do enjoy absorbing lots of information, they do so in a structured manner where each piece of information is either verified and placed in context, or held as tentative and hypothetical.
Geminis tend to be much less disciplined about their emotions than Libras, who have been described as the iron fist in the velvet glove. A Libra has a wonderful capacity to remain detached from his emotions, allow reason to intervene, while Gemini is more prone to allowing his internal order to be caught off balance by external and internal phenomena. Gemini abhors surprises, even good ones, while Libra accepts good ones with appropriate enthusiasm. Libras are genuinely charming, but Geminis are manipulative. Libra is able to remain velvet and proceed to iron, but Geminis have a strong tendency to manipulate people and situations around them for their own benefit. While some signs are lost in irrelevant details, meticulous to a fault, Libra views all phenomenon in a broader context, something Geminis are unable to sustain for more than a short while.
Libras are also much more in tune with the higher intellect than Geminis. Music, art, philosophy — Libra is a judicious aesthete and a brilliant strategist. The synergy between Gemini and Libra, when it occurs, is the exchange of Gemini’s collection of trivia for Libra’s sharp intellect and insight. In Libras, knowledge lives, while in Geminis, knowledge is often a list of propositions with no consideration given to how that information connects, its consequences or its importance in a greater context. Geminis are also prone to throw tantrums, given that they’re moody. They possess a very stubborn and forceful personality, going after what they want and often getting it, but not through the grace and finesse afforded Libra, but rather through the shoe pounding of Khruschev. In this area, Libra is to Gemini as honey is to vinegar for attracting ants. Libra will leave behind him a legacy of harmony, while Gemini will often leave behind a path of carnage. While Gemini adores formality, he lacks Libra’s determination to give it substance. An aesthete, Libra of course loves form, but find it hollow and meaningless without substance. Substance without form is seen as an opportunity, a rough diamond begging to be brought into its fullness.
Libras are also incredibly sensual, capable of melding that sensuality with a disciplined aggression and desire to bring lovemaking to full fruition, giving it a fun, light-heartedness, and an honesty and depth no other sign can evince.
